Today's earthquake map. Neat!

Shaking

I lived in California for a couple of years and my interest in earthquakes was piqued by the experience. I was checking out the USGS earthquake maps and noticed that we had a couple of small treblers down near Asheville this week! The New Madrid fault line is as likely to go as the San Andreas. I notice that Memphis has some earthquake resistant buildings listed as well. I hope they both hold tight for a while yet to come, but the research and internet access to real time data is fascinating.

Camping

I'm going camping this weekend. This is a big annual trip with 4 or 5 other families down near Mount Mitchell. I love this trip, but I hate camping. I never camped as a child and I am convinced that the only people who enjoy sleeping outside are the ones who started young. My kids love it. My husband, who camped as a child, loves it. I love hotels with jacuzzis. I'll take some pictures and let you know how it goes.

Blog List

I was checking out my favorite blogs this morning (see list on right) and I have to give another big shout out to Satan's Laundromat and bighappyfunhouse. bighappyfunhouse always makes me think of my sister, who has a collection of the most interesting photos of people I don't know. Lots of them. And she makes me look at all of them. And I never know anybody. Ever. But they're really cool photos.

Gorillaz

Music

During the school year I don't have time to keep up with the latest in music, but with the help of my 2 fabulous teenagers, I've been playing catch up.

Gorillaz - catch the videos and the tunes. A great animated (literally) band

White Stripes - They've been hit and miss for me so far, but it looks like working with Loretta Lynn did Jack a world of good.

I'll give some book reviews later this week. Ah, summer is wonderful!

Music

My brother-in-law, other than being a most excellent uncle, is also a fine musician. Check out his website www.geocities.com/timmacleaninfo.

Sorry I interrupted your dinner... A buzzard (I think) cleaning up some road kill.

Pins...

As the rain continued to fall this week and my stress level dropped down from orbit around the earth.... I still couldn't remember.

I have had the same pin number for 8 years. That's a long time for a pin number. And it's something I use many times each day. But that number has vanished somewhere into the folds of my brain. After 5 hours of moving my classroom from one building to another building on our campus (2 flights of stairs and 1 scary elevator) I went to the nearby atm to get cash for dinner. I looked at the key pad and tried to remember.... That was my first mistake. I knew better than to try more than twice so I stopped and decided to sleep on it. That has not improved this situation. I feel like I am growing very old. Ah well, let's laugh a little and move on. Now where did I put those vitamins?
