Hunting for Easter Eggs
Posted by Hello

The Hunt

Today was an extra early morning since we had our Sunday Easter service at 6 a.m. Trying to get 2 teens out of the house by 5:15 was interesting to say the least.

The older kids hide the Easter Eggs for the younger ones after Easter Breakfast at our church. The little ones were so ready to go hunting! After a long church service and then a breakfast in their finest Sunday clothes, you could tell they were itching for a good sprint up the stairs to find eggs.

I'm still fighting with this digital camera to get it to stop thinking and just shoot. However, I did get this neat shot that really shows the flurry of activity an Easter Egg Hunt entails.

Prayers Like Shoes

I heard this awesome poem on NPR Monday morning. Give it a listen! Prayers Like Shoes

It's foggy in my backyard.

I've been tired, Mom!

Sorry for the lack of communication this week. I've been tired! We had 2 back to back weekends of dance competions. I really enjoyed myself but it was tiring and I didn't even dance! My kinders and 1st graders were also very excited this week - what with the Easter Bunny coming and bringing the teacher a week off from school... (Teachers are more excited about holidays than kids!)

I'm looking for a photo project this week. I do so many vistas that I post on the blog that I'm thinking about doing something small. Any suggestions?

Dancin!

I am finally getting the hang of parenting at a dance convention. I take a good book.

I love dancing. I love to watch dancing, I love to go dancing and I am well aware that I am not a dancer. My children are good dancers. My son is a very good dancer. They do not want me to dance. I am not allowed to even bob my head to the beat. The dance convention my son attended this weekend offered me a glorious opportunity. They offered a 45 minute parents' hip hop class. We parents hipped and hopped and sweated and laughed to the latest steps and music with a real hip hop choreographer who then convinced us to get on stage in front of our children and embarrass (not ourselves) but our KIDS! It was so much fun. I was so sore the next day.

I took some pictures of downtown Greenville. Christ Church Cathedral had a really interesting graveyard. (The stained glass was incredible, but I didn't shoot any pictures inside the church.) The Greenville Falls was the site of a St. Patricks Day festival. For more dance parent notes see Blue Ridge Blog.

Pants 2

Guess who asked to keep the pants?

I didn't laugh, didn't shout, just promised myself a new pair.

Pants

What a morning. My children, especially my son, are in a huge growth spurt right now. I can't seem to keep them in clothes! It doesn't help that all of their laundry lays on their bedroom floors for days - and then it all goes into the hamper. My son didn't tell me that he put every pair of pants he owns in the wash last night. That meant that nothing was dry this morning. On top of this little problem, the kids regular ride to school wasn't happening, so they had to ride the bus. This meant getting everyone rolling 45 minutes earlier than usual. Holy Pomoly! End result - my son is wearing my pants to school today - with an extra long sweatshirt, much eye rolling and a scowl. I've never been so glad to go to work.

Apple Stand View
Posted by Hello

Back to the Blog

I finally have enough free time to think about blogging. My husband has been very ill in the hospital for the last month and my life has been a fog. My ability to think about more than one thing at a time completely disappeared and the urge to write and photograph completely escaped me. I am definitely not finding inspiration in adversity!

The DOT was working hard on Hwy 321 today. They are preparing to widen the road and today they cut down bunches of trees. I hate it for the trees, but the view is spectacular. I caught this view near the apple stand at the top of 321 near Blowing Rock.
